What you need to know:
The PCI Council has mandated the more secure protocol “TLS 1.2” (Transport Layer Security) for merchants that process credit cards through the web.
Effective June 30, 2018, web environments that do not utilize TLS 1.2 will run the risk of not being able to process any credit card payments.
Why this impacts you:
Your website is currently hosted on a “legacy” web hosting plan, which utilizes a version of Windows Server that is no longer supported by Microsoft. Because of this, TLS 1.2 will not be supported on your hosting environment.
Only hosting plans utilizing Windows Server 2008 or newer will support the new TLS 1.2 protocol.
If you are currently accepting credit card payments on your website, you will need to take action prior to the June 30, 2018 deadline. Again, inaction could lead to payments on your website to stop working.
